Merry Wives of Windsor

So my next disaster was wallpapering the Second Angled wall. I had another challenge to face because there was two walls it meant my wall paper had to match up with the first wall. Once again I had to use maths and it took for ages. However, once Rosé and I did all the problem solving the wall papering went really quick and the overall finish to the walls ended up looking fab.

Can you tell that these are two different shades of green? One of them is the original sample, the second is in the process of getting there (hashtag scenic problems!)
There has been a lot of work and set pieces for Opera, it's crazy to think that this production was only scheduled for a 4 week paint job. To be honest it hasn't been a very challenging artistically, but there has been so many processes to achieve the final look to so many set pieces. Here are some examples of the steps :
Yup that wood originally looked like ply wood!

Wood training:
1. Paint the overall base with two shades orange. Let it dry.
2. Paint the whole piece using two shades of watery brown paint.
3. Use wood draining tools to take of brown paint. Let it Dry.
4. Glaze with PVA

The Green Proscenium:
1. Prime in white
2. Paint 2 coats of green
3. Glaze with PVA
4. Glaze with Mega Bond

Lettering:
1. Print stencil to correct size and cut out with a scalpel
2. Accurately find the lettering positing on the set piece using the model as a reference then cut the spaces accordingly
3. Spray stencil with mount spray
4. Paint stencil with yellow paint. Let it dry.
5. Paint stencil in gold
6. Add highlight and then remove stencil
7. Paint in shadow
This was lovely wallpaper to work with, only took 45minutes to hang!

I think Jude has done an excellent job as Head Scenic Artist, I know she has been feeling the pressure and she has coped with it really well. I guess we all didn't comprehend the enormity of this production.
